In Christ Scriptures

Your identity, who you are in Christ, is one of the greatest revelations of the Bible. Below is a list of the verses that tell you who are in Christ. Mediate on these verses. Take just one of them and think about it; think about what it means to you and your life. Think about how you would teach what it means to someone else. If you can, journal about it, write it down. Pray about it, memorise it, speak it out loud, put it on a Post-it note and stick it to your bathroom mirror. If that verse is particularly tricky for you, stick with that verse for a few days. Let its truth and power sink into your spirit as you start to see yourself as God sees you. It’s a remarkable journey of discovery.

And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming.

In the Beloved

to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.

In the Lord

Eph 5:8

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.

In Whom

Eph 1:7

Eph 1:11

In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will,

And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,

1 Pet 1:8

Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy,

By Christ

Rom 3:22

the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction:

Rom 5:15

But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man's trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many.

Rom 5:17-19

For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ! Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.

Rom 7:4

So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.

1 Cor 1:4

I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus,

2 Cor 5:18

Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation,

Gal 2:16

know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified.

Eph 1:5

He predestined and lovingly planned for us to be adopted to Himself as [His own] children through Jesus Christ, in accordance with the kind intention and good pleasure of His will—

Phil 1:11

filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.

Phil 4:19

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

1 Pet 1:3

What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for,

1 Pet 2:5

you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

1 Pet 5:10

And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.

By Him

1 Cor 1:5

For in him you have been enriched in every way—with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge—

1 Cor 8:6

yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live.

Col 1:16-17

For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

Col 1:20

and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.

Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name.

1 Pet 1:21

Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.

By Himself

Heb 1:3

He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

Heb 9:26

Otherwise, Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But he has appeared once for all at the culmination of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself.

By His Blood

Heb 9:11-12

But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.

Heb 9:14-15

How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God! For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.

Heb 10:19-20

Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body,

1 John 1:7

but if we [really] walk in the Light [that is, live each and every day in conformity with the precepts of God], as He Himself is in the Light, we have [true, unbroken] fellowship with one another [He with us and we with Him], and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin [by erasing the stain of sin, keeping us cleansed from sin in all its forms and manifestations].

By Whom

Rom 5:2

through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.

Rom 5:11

More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

Gal 6:14

May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

From Whom

Eph 4:16

From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

Col 2:19

and not holding fast to the Head, from whom the whole body, nourished and knit together through its joints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God.

Of Christ

2 Cor 2:15

For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.

Phil 3:12

Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.

Col 2:17

All those things are mere shadows cast before what was to come; the substance is Christ.

Col 3:24

knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.

Of Him

1 John 1:5

This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.

1 John 2:27

As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.

Rom 5:1

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Rom 5:11

And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

1 Cor 15:57

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory [as conquerors] through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Gal 3:13-14

Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, 'Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree'), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Gal 4:7

Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

Eph 2:7

that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

Phil 4:6-7

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Heb 10:10

And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Heb 13:20-21

Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

THROUGH HIM

John 3:17

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!

Rom 8:37

Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

1 John 4:9

This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.

With Christ

Rom 6:8

Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.

Gal 2:20

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Eph 2:5

even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—

Col 2:20

Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations—

Col 3:1

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

Col 3:3

For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.

With Him

For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin—

If we get included in Christ’s sin-conquering death, we also get included in his life-saving resurrection.

He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?

2 Cor 13:4

For he was crucified in weakness, but lives by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but in dealing with you we will live with him by the power of God.

Col 2:12-15

having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through your faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead. When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

Col 3:4

When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

2 Tim 2:11-12

Here is a trustworthy saying: If we died with him, we will also live with him; if we endure, we will also reign with him. If we disown him, he will also disown us
