Alpha is a proper discussion, not a lecture. Ask anything, push back on anything — the best evenings are the ones where people disagree well.
Every idea gets a fair hearing
Whatever you think about God, doubt, faith or church, you’ll be listened to properly. Nobody’s idea gets shouted down here.
You’ll come away with people
A few weeks with the same dozen or so does something. Most groups carry on talking long after the course finishes.
How an Alpha evening actually works
You can keep your camera off and say nothing for weeks. Plenty of people do.
Log in from your sofa
It all happens on Zoom — one evening a week, about an hour. Bring a brew, keep the camera on or off, no special kit needed.
Watch a short film
Each week opens with one of the Alpha films — twenty-odd minutes on that week's big question. They're properly made, genuinely thought-provoking, and they don't dodge the hard bits.
Talk it out
Then the real Alpha happens: open discussion in a small group. Say what you actually think, disagree with the film, ask the awkward question — or just listen for the first few weeks. Nobody corrects you, and nothing is off-limits.
The groups are small — the last course had about fourteen people — so it’s a real conversation with real people, not a webinar.
